Book Fair Open for Business
The spring George Fischer Middle School Scholastic Book Fair was fully stocked when the doors of the school library opened to young shoppers on Monday.
The schoolâs fall book fair was so popular that the GFMS PTA organizers had to ask Scholastic to provide more books for the spring event.
âWe wanted to make sure we had books for 5th graders and not just older middle schoolers,â said GFMS PTA President Cynthia Sa. âThey still like the âDiary of a Wimpy Kidâ books, and the âDog Manâ books by Dav Pilkey are really popular.â
The book fair is a chance for students to shop on their own.
âCan somebody spare $60?â Brody, a 5th grader, joked as he held up a âFazebear Frightsâ graphic novel collection set. âCome on, Iâll pay you back later.â
He settled on buying just one book in the series instead of the whole collection.
A couple of students gathered around the cookbook table.
âI like baking,â one girl said. âI bake everything. I like to make things with sourdough.â
Another, who said she loved animals, picked up a book about a heroic dog.
The book fair, which is staffed by volunteers from the GFMS PTA, is open through Friday, March 20.
